Sales Policies and General Information
General Terms of Sale
Desert Springs Nigerian Dwarf Goats (hereinafter referred to as DSNDG) offers for sale animals under the “breeder’s terms” which means DSNDG may request stud service, first right of refusal, etc., on an individual basis. These terms will be discussed and agreed upon by all parties at the time of purchase.
DSNDG reserves the right to retain ANY kid born on the premises.
Animals under the age of 6 months (“kids”) are sold with a registration application and transfer(if already registered) for the Nigerian Dwarf Goat Association (NDGA) and the American Goat Society (AGS).
Doelings will be weaned from their dams at ten weeks of age and bucklings/wethers will be weaned from their dams at eight weeks of age.
Currently active 4-H and FFA Members, with proof of current membership, will be extended a $25.00 discount on certain animals purchased from DSNDG. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES WILL AN ANIMAL LEAVE THE PROPERTY OF DSNDG PRIOR TO PAYMENT IN FULL OF ITS PURCHASE PRICE AND/OR SETTLEMENT OF ANY BOARDING FEES DUE.
A sale to any person under the age of 18 requires the signature by a parent or legal guardian of said buyer on the Sales Agreement and Contract. All sales transactions on behalf of an under-age buyer will be conducted with and through the Parent or Legal Guardian.
DSNDG as the seller makes no warranties or guarantees as to the animal’s suitability for a particular use.
DSNDG as the seller has no responsibility for the animal sold once it leaves the premises of DSNDG.
DSNDG does not require a deposite to reserve an un-born kid. However, once the kid is born we will require a $50 deposit if the buyer is local. This deposit is non-refundable.
Pick up of animals purchased in full must be made no later than 7 days from receipt of the full purchase price. Purchased animals remaining beyond the 7 day term will accrue a boarding fee of $2.50 per day until they are picked up by the new owner.
Goats are herd animals, therefore we highly recommend that the buyer purchases at least two goats if they do not already own other goats.
Milking Stock
The mammary system of an immature doe cannot be determined until maturity. To know for certain that a mammary system is what you find desirable, we recommend you purchase a “doe in milk” if available.
Breeding Stock
If DSNDG sells breeding stock that proves to be infertile, upon the presentation of an affidavit from a licensed Veterinarian that the animal in question is in fact irreversibly infertile, DSNDG will make every effort to come to a solution suitable for both buyer and DSNDG.
If DSNDG is presented with an affidavit from a licensed Veterinarian that an animal sold by DSNDG proves to have a congenital or other underlying defect or condition unknown prior to transfer, DSNDG will again make every effort to come to a solution suitable to both the buyer and DSNDG.
Socialization of Kids
All kids born on the premises of DSNDG are raised on raw milk from their dams. No kids are bottle fed unless necessary.
Kids are handled as soon as possible after birth and as much as possible thereafter in an effort to develop a well socialized animal.
Naming of Kids
DSNDG will choose the registered names of all kids born on the premises in most cases.
Disbudding/Vaccinations/Tattooing
All kids will have horn buds removed between the age of 3 and 4 weeks.
All kids 3-4 weeks of age will have their first vaccination of Tetanus Antitoxin. Occasionally the vaccination will leave a small visible bump; however that will disappear with time.
Unless otherwise stated, no kids are tattooed. This is the responsibility of the buyer.
Breeding/Stud Service
Does at DSNDG can be bred to any of our bucks, when old enough, for an additional fee of $75, before leaving the property after purchase.
This “exposure” to the buck will NOT guarantee that the doe will conceive. “Exposed” only means the animal was with the buck for a period of time.
There will be no refunds in any amount for a doe that aborts, does not produce viable offspring, or does not conceive as a result of her exposure to or pregnancy by one of the bucks of DSNDG.
DSNDG does NOT offer stud service, but can recommend another breeder who does.
Warranties
DSNDG offers animals for sale that are healthy at time of transfer. DSNDG cannot guarantee any animal will mature as expected by buyer or seller. Many factors influence final conformation, udder attachment, general stature, show ability, overall development, quality of future offspring and the like for a purchased animal. Factors influencing these results in a purchased animal include (but are not limited to) feed, healthcare, maintenance, parasite control, environment, housing, breeding, stress).
DSNDG does its best to accurately represent all animals sold and will provide photographs and general descriptions to long-distance buyers.
Occasionally, DSNDG sells mature animals after they have produced offspring. That can be considered a more risk-free purchase with regard to breeding stock, however, there is no possible way to predict how genes may blend, even on a subsequent breeding between the same doe and buck and DSNDG holds no responsibility there for.
A prospective buyer of stock from DSNDG has the right to request a full health examination by a licensed Veterinarian at the expense of the buyer. Prior notification and arrangement for said exam will be made with DSNDG.
